₹4,000 crore not enough for Tripura, says CM Manik Saha

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday urged the Central Government to raise the cap on Externally Aided Projects (EAPs) from the current ₹4,000 crore, calling it insufficient for the state’s growing developmental demands. Speaking at a public event in Sepahijala district, he stressed that increased central support is essential to maintain the momentum of infrastructure and tourism projects.

Dr. Saha also launched a ₹34 crore initiative to boost religious and cultural tourism, including the foundation stone laying for tourism infrastructure at Kamalasagar and the historic Chaturdash Devta Temple in the Kasba Kalibari Complex. He noted that access to the temple has significantly improved with a newly constructed 13-km road. Accusing the previous government of neglecting Tripura’s cultural heritage, he asserted that the present administration is actively working to restore and develop key sites. “We’re transforming heritage into tourism potential,” he said.

Highlighting growing global partnerships, Dr. Saha mentioned support from the Asian Development Bank and World Bank. He added that nearly ₹7,000 crore has been earmarked in the state budget this year for infrastructure, aligning with PM Modi’s vision. The state is also developing the 51 Shakti Peeth Park in Udaipur, aiming to position Tripura as a major spiritual tourism destination.
