Normal life was affected in parts of Upper Subansiri district on Monday following a 12-hour bandh called by the Upper Subansiri district unit of the Frontier Highway Committee over the prolonged delay in completing the Subansiri bridge. Most shops in Daporijo and Dumporijo towns remained closed during the bandh, while only a limited number of vehicles were seen on the roads. The flood situation in Assam showed signs of improvement on Sunday, but over 1.35 lakh people in five districts continue to remain affected by the deluge. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), three more deaths were reported from Sivasagar district, taking the total number of flood-related fatalities in the state this year to 85.
