Two people died and four were critically injured when a speeding oil tanker collided with a luxury sedan on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Urmi village of Nuh around 2 pm on Tuesday, police officials said.
According to the police, the collision was so strong that both cars caught fire, the oil tanker overturned and the driver and passenger were trapped and could not escape. They burned in the fire, police said.
According to the SP, Narender Bijarniya, the third passenger of the oil tanker, survived but was seriously injured. “The car was identified as a Rolls-Royce, and its four passengers were seriously injured and taken to a private hospital in Gurugram, where their condition was reported to be critical,” he said.
The deceased have been identified as Rampreet Kumar and Kuldeep Singh, residents of Alwar in Rajasthan. The third occupant of the tanker has been identified as Gautam Kumar, who hails from Uttar Pradesh.
According to a preliminary investigation, the tanker belonging to a private company was carrying diesel and was on its way to the National Highways Authority of India site to supply fuel for gensets. “Rampreet was driving the tanker on the wrong side of the road as he wanted to take a U-turn when it collided with a Rolls-Royce coming from the Sohna side. Bijarnia said the tanker overturned after the collision due to the high speed of the two vehicles.
