2020 Honda to launch 5th generation City on July 15.

After a slight delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fifth generation Honda City sedan will be launched in the market on July 15, 2020. Honda began production of the new model late last month, and it has already started accepting bookings for the midsize sedan.

The Honda City midsize sedan will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant will be powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC engine that will be available with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT options. The engine churns out 121 PS of power at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm.

The feature list covers an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa, Honda Connect suite with 32 car features, 6.9-inch HD TFT instrument cluster, automatic headlamps, push start/stop button, electric sunroof and more.

At a time when sedans continue to lose their charm to SUVs of all shapes and sizes, Honda has managed to give City a new life and it could well help it challenge the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. All eyes now would be on how the pricing structure is – not just vis-a-vis rivals but to also answer queries from City fans about which model to choose.
