22 dead after tourist boat capsizes in Kerala’s Malappuram

At least 22 people, most of them children, drowned when a tourist boat carrying around 40 passengers capsized in Kerala’s Tanur area of ​​Malappuram on Sunday evening.

According to the district administration, the death toll has now stood at 22. According to Minister V Abdurhiman, the condition of 7 people is critical.

It is believed to be more people trapped under the boat. Efforts are underway to bring the sunken boat to shore.

Rescue work is going on with the help of fire service personnel and volunteers.

According to the police, this incident happened around 7 pm. However, the exact cause of the accident is not yet known.
