Twenty-four companies of Central Armed Police Forces will be deployed for smooth and peaceful conduct of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) polls.
Speaking to mediapersons in Agartala, Director General of Police, Anurag said out of the 24 companies four companies of CAPF have already reached the state and remaining twenty would arrive shortly.
The central forces include 12 companies of the BSF, 10 of Sashtra Seema Bal, and two of the CRPF.
Polling for the all crucial Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council Polls will be held on April 12 while counting will be taken up on April 17.
The TTAADC election will be conducted across all eight districts of the state, covering 1257 polling stations. The polling stations have been divided into A, B and C categories based on vulnerability, criticality and local conditions.
Among them, 311 polling stations fall under Category A as highly critical, 693 under Category B from the threat perception and security point of view, while 253 polling stations fall under Category C as normal.
The state on its part will deploy 12,000 personnel of civil police and Tripura State Rifles for the polls. Elaborate arrangements including mobile patrolling, fixed pickets and reserve forces at every police station have been made to tackle any eventuality.
The DGP assured that voters can cast their votes without any fear, as foolproof security arrangements have been put in place at all polling stations. He also appealed to all voters to participate in the democratic process freely and without hesitation.
In case of any emergency, citizens can contact the police control room by dialling 112. The police administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and incident-free election, with forces available round the clock for public assistance.
