Salt Lake and Kolkata – which are experiencing scattered rains for the rest of the fortnight – have reported an increase in dengue cases. According to Kolkata Municipal Corporation health officials, the number of cases crossed 300 on Friday. Civic sources said that until five days ago, the wide variety was limited to 250. Dengue cases from different parts of South Kolkata have increased and are widely pronounced.
In Salt Lake, sixteen more dengue cases have been reported across Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) locations in the last one week, a BMC source said, taking the tally to 46. BMC authorities on Friday started drone surveillance in large parts of Ward 31 in Salt Lake where most of the cases have been reported.
The KMC has intensified its anti-dengue pressure in Bhowanipore, Chetla, Kalighat, Alipore, New Alipore, Tollygunge, Anwar Shah Road, Jodhpur Park, Golf Green, Dhakuria, Jadavpur, Garia, Baghajatin and neighborhoods placed off EM Bypass.
