The Tripura government will organize a state-level Youth Parliament competition at the Tripura Legislative Assembly on March 23, aiming to encourage youth participation in democracy and governance. Announcing the event at a press conference, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy said that 40 talented youths aged 15 to 25, selected from all eight districts of the state, will take part in the competition.
“This program was launched in 2019 under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to empower youth and inspire patriotism. The best three participants from the state competition will advance to the central-level Youth Parliament competition in Delhi,” the minister stated. Minister Roy also highlighted an ongoing talent search program initiated on February 4 by the Youth Affairs and Sports Department. The initiative has identified 34,571 young athletes from 247 zones across blocks, municipal councils, nagar panchayats, and municipal corporations in Tripura.
“This is the first time such an extensive talent hunt has been conducted in the state. Players under 10 years and 14 years are competing in football, kho-kho, kabaddi, and athletics, progressing from the local to district levels,” he added.
