47th Karbi Youth Festival begins

The 47th Karbi Youth Festival got underway on Monday with the inauguration of a traditional entrance gate to Taralangso connecting Mirjeng Musoso Adonri Road, the main entry point of Karbi People’s Hall, by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council’s Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang. 

The inaugural programme was also attended by Member of Parliament, Horensing Bey; president of Karbi Cultural Society, Chandra Sing Kro and other dignitaries.

Tuliram Ronghang also inaugurated another landmark festival place, a colossal clock tower visible from all directions named after Karbi legend Kajir Ronghangpi and Nothengpi the Karbi heritage museum. He also laid the foundation stone for construction of the capital complex for the four Karbi Kings and other edifices.

Beside the formal inaugurations the day was marked by the arrival of thousands of folk artists from various zones, who will take part in cultural and traditional events.
