Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu inaugurated the fourth Tripura Fish Festival at Agartala Children’s Park, an event aimed at promoting aquaculture and increasing participation in fish farming across the state, organized by the state fisheries department. In his address, the Governor encouraged fish farmers to adopt scientific practices to enhance production and benefits, emphasizing the necessity of modern cultivation methods for improving productivity and profitability. He urged fish farmers to participate in national-level exhibitions and festivals for broader exposure and advocated for providing training opportunities beyond the state to learn advanced aquaculture techniques. Additionally, he called for the fisheries department to ensure that fish farmers and fish-producing organizations have access to insurance and institutional credit. Nallu highlighted the importance of formulating and implementing effective plans to achieve self-reliance in fish production within Tripura. State Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das supported these goals, stating that the government has initiated various measures to reach self-sufficiency in fish production, including introducing a state fisheries policy to promote the sector. He also encouraged particularly young individuals to consider fish farming as a viable livelihood option for economic self-reliance. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, West Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil, Fisheries Secretary Deepa D Nair, and Fisheries Director Santosh Das.
