In a Meerut, district of Uttar Pradesh, near a village named Rali Chauhan an ill fated incident occurred while Kanwariyas (devotees of lord Shiva) were returning from Haridwar after collecting water from holy river the ganges. Five Kanwariyas died due to electrocution and five others were in critical situation.
The incident happened due to the DJ which came in contact with the overhead 11 kV power line. The DJ was tied to a vehicle on which kanwariyas were travelling.
Immediately the kanwariyas were rushed to the hospital where 5 of them were declared brought dead and others were admitted for the treatment.
