72 Assam Girls celebrate Independence Day

Independence Day is a reminder of the sacrifices of our valiant freedom fighters who stood up against the colonisers and even suffered harsh consequences unflinchingly, so that the later generation could breathe in free air in free India. It’s a day of national pride.

We, the all ranks of 72 Assam Girls (Independent) Coy NCC, NLP on behalf of Officer Commanding Col Jasbir Singh Cheema celebrate this day every year. This year too the unit and all its Colleges and schools, spread over the district of North Lakhimpur and Dhemaji are celebrating the Independence Day. The event was celebrated online on Google Meet on 13 Aug 2020 due to the Covid 19 Social Distancing Norms. This year the program has been unique as the Chief Guest Dr Udhab Bharali, Padmashree was invited to address cadets of 72 Assam Girls (I) Coy NCC. Event was attended by the ALL Staff of unit,as also by NCC Officers Kalyani Knowar, Dipali Neog, and Rajumoni Gogoi, Hav Johny, Nk Subash, Cadets of Dhemaji College, Dhemaji Girls College, Lakhimpur Girls College, LTK College, Azad, Laluk HS School and anchored by Girl Cadet Instructor Sangita.

The celebration started with the welcoming of guest Dr Udhab Bharali, Padmashree, by NCV cadet Pilots to the Flag hosting area. The chief guest hosted our national flag in unit office premises. The online program started with the introduction of Chief Guest and cultural program by the cadets. Later, Chief Guest addressed the cadets and spoke about the relevance of Independence in today’s context. It was followed by a vote of thanks by NCC Officer Mrs Kalyani Konwar. A memento was presented to Dr Udhab Bharali Padmashree on behalf of the unit. The program came to an end with the singing of the National Anthem by one and all.
