A 15-day-long fair will be held in Jateshwar on Shiva Chaturdashi

Every year on Shiva Chaturdashi, a fair is held in the field of Garuhati in Jateshwar. This fair lasts for 15 days. A fair is held every year on Shiva Chaturdashi Tithi at Jateshwar in Falakata block of Alipurduar district of North Bengal. Every year it is observed that a large number of pilgrims from different areas visit the Jateshwar Shiva temple.
In this regard, Jateshwar Shiv Mandir Committee Secretary Devjit Pal said, “Shiva Chaturdashi is going to start from next February 18.

The auspicious beginning is done by fetching water from the river and pouring it on Mahadev’s head through Shobha Yatra. He said that Shiv Chaturdashi is celebrated with great devotion.” He said that this year a fair will be held for fifteen days on the occasion of Shiv Chaturdashi.” Already various shops have started coming up in Jateshwar Garuhati Maidan. This fair will start on the day of Shivratri. Preparations are going on vigorously around that traditional fair.
