A constable is suspended by Tripura Police due to bribery charges, and a departmental investigation is initiated

A constable of the Tripura Police has been suspended from duty following serious allegations of bribery and misconduct. The constable, identified as Amir Khan Bhuiya, was posted in West Tripura district when the allegations surfaced, officials said on Sunday. According to an official statement issued by the Tripura Police, a criminal case has been registered against Constable Bhuiya and four other individuals. The case has been filed under Amtali Police Station Case No. 2025/AMT/111, dated October 26, 2025, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, 2023, including Sections 329(3), 324(3), 117(2), 351(2), and 3(5). Police said that investigations are ongoing, and further details will be made public once the inquiry progresses.

The statement from the police headquarters further mentioned that, apart from the criminal proceedings, a departmental inquiry has been initiated against the suspended constable. The inquiry aims to examine his alleged involvement in illegal activities and misuse of position during his posting at the office of the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura.

The suspension order was formally issued by West District Superintendent of Police, Namit Pathak, who stated that during the suspension period, Constable Bhuiya’s headquarters will remain at the A.D. Nagar Police Lines, under the control of the Assistant Commandant, District Armed Reserve (DAR), West Tripura. The order also directs the constable to maintain strict discipline and comply with departmental rules and regulations during his suspension.
