Siliguri, May 19: Bhakti Nagar police has arrested a youth named Arpan Chand, a resident of Falakata, for having a fraudulent relationship with a girl on the pretext of showing her dreams of marriage.
The incident came to light when a girl from East Medinipur, who lives in Siliguri for work, accused Arpan Chand of tricking her into a relationship under the false promise of marriage. Reportedly, the two got acquainted initially during work-related conversations which gradually turned into a romantic relationship.
However, it has been alleged that the accused Arpan Chand refused to marry the girl after tricking her into having physical relations. This prompted the girl to lodge a formal complaint at Bhakti Nagar police station. After this, on the basis of the complaint, the police arrested Arpan on Saturday night. Later on Sunday, the accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court for further legal proceedings.
