A teenage victim of gang rape, four people including three minors have been arrested

When the entire state was in turmoil due to the RG Kar Hospital incident, an allegation of gang rape of a girl in Siliguri surfaced. It is alleged that the incident of gang rape took place on Independence Day, i.e., Thursday afternoon. The girl returns home and informs her family. The family filed a complaint at the New Jalpaiguri police station at night.

After receiving the complaint, the police arrested a total of four people, including three minors, that night. The girl was medically examined. Four accused were produced in the court under the POCSO section. According to police sources, the residence of the accused and the victim is in Siliguri city.

In the preliminary investigation, the police found out that the girl met one of the four arrested minors a few months ago. Phone numbers are also exchanged. On Thursday, the minor called the girl and asked her to come to the Naukaghat area. The girl went there and saw the other three. After that, everyone went to a secluded area along the river Mahananda in the Naukaghat area. It is alleged that the incident of gang rape took place there.

Siliguri Police Commissioner C Sudhakar said, “The girl’s medical examination has been done. Once the report is received, it will be clear what happened on the banks of the Mahananda River on Thursday afternoon. Based on the complaint of the girl’s family, four people were arrested and sent to the court on Friday. The police have also started collecting information about the four arrested people besides visiting the spot.
