Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani met with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka after the full load commencement of power supply from India’s Godda USCTPP. This marks the Adani Group’s entry into transnational power projects, where 100% of generated power is supplied to another nation.
Adani Power Jharkhand Ltd, a subsidiary of Adani Power, completed the dependable capacity test for the Godda plant in India on 12 July. The test, a mandatory requirement under the power purchase agreement with Bangladesh, evaluated the simultaneous functioning of the plant’s two units. The first 800 MW unit began commercial operations on 6 April, followed by the second on 26 June.
APJL will supply 1,496 MW from the Godda USCTPP under the PPA with the Bangladesh Power Development Board for 25 years, via a 400 kV dedicated transmission system connected to the Bangladesh grid. After the meeting, Mr Gautam Adani said in a tweet: “I salute the dedicated teams from India and Bangladesh who braved COVID to commission the plant in a record time of three-and-a-half years.”
