After a successful inception in Ranchi, Tata Trusts brings ‘Gaanth Pe Dhyaan’ to Kolkata

Tata Trusts launched ‘Gaanth Pe Dhyaan’ in Kolkata to promote early breast cancer screening through a unique event at the Tata Medical Center. A part of the larger ‘Kaise Ka Cancer’ campaign, ‘Gaanth Pe Dhyaan’ aims to build awareness, encourage open conversations, and drive community action towards breast cancer by using the metaphor of ‘lumps in food’ and emphasizing on the importance of breast self-examination amongst women.

Breast cancer in India is a significant issue, with over 50% of cases being diagnosed in late stages due to lack of awareness. Tata Trusts is working to address this by educating women on early detection through a campaign called ‘Gaanth Pe Dhyaan’. Inspired by the care women put into cooking, the campaign encourages women to self-examine their breasts regularly for any signs of a potential cancerous “gaanth” (lump), a condition that can be fatal if not detected early. This initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage early detection of breast cancer.

The ‘Gaanth Pe Dhyaan’ event in Kolkata, organized in partnership with celebrity Chef Ananya Banerjee, was launched in Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (RCHRC) following its successful launch in October. An author of two acclaimed cookbooks, the award-winning Chef is known for her vast experience in global cuisines at luxury hotels across the country.
