After being trapped in deep snow, tourists were rescued by the army

The Army successfully rescued three Tripuran tourists on Tuesday night after they had been stuck for more than eight hours at PT Tso Lake in the Tawang area owing to severe snowfall. Earlier that day, the tourists—Rohen Sarkar, Sahil Datta, and Raju Name—had leased motorcycles and set off on a sightseeing excursion, but when the snowfall got heavier, they got stuck. Around 11 a.m., the three set off for PT Tso Lake, but they became trapped in the deep snowfall that, by the afternoon, had covered the high-altitude area.

Their motorcycles slipped on the ice as they attempted to head back to Leh, leaving them trapped in the bitter cold. Around 10 p.m., a reporter saw their social media posts and took notice of their distress call. Before alerting Tawang’s DIPRO (District Information and Public Relations Officer), Nawang Chotta, to the emergency, the reporter promptly obtained their whereabouts and personal information. Since other rescue techniques were impractical due to the severe weather and dark conditions, the DIPRO swiftly notified the Army.

The visitors were rescued after the Army quickly mobilized and found them. They received food, hot water, warm clothes, and first aid at the Army camp. To make sure they hadn’t experienced hypothermia or any other weather-related concerns, their health was evaluated. The travelers were safely returned to their hotel by Wednesday. Their encounter served as a reminder of the unpredictability of the difficulties associated with traveling at high altitudes and the significance of prompt aid in case of an emergency.
