Two young students from Agartala have made their city proud by securing top international ranks in the prestigious 2023-24 Science Olympiad exams. Saatatya Das, a fourth-grader from Sri Krishna Mission School, clinched the international rank-1 in the International English Olympiad, earning an international gold medal and a merit certificate. First-grader Archisman Debnath from Holy Cross School achieved International Mathematics Rank-2, receiving an international silver medal and a merit certificate.
The Science Olympiad Foundation’s (SOF) awards ceremony took place at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi, celebrating the academic excellence of students from over 70 countries. Distinguished guests, including former Chief Justice of India, Justice Dipak Misra, and acclaimed author Chetan Bhagat, honored the top three rank holders from grades 1 to 12.Justice Misra, addressing the 700 attendees, emphasized the continuous nature of competition and success, highlighting the importance of time management and resilience. Bhagat inspired the young achievers by underscoring the irreplaceable value of human creativity and potential, even in an age dominated by artificial intelligence.
SOF’s founder, Mahabir Singh, announced new initiatives, including the launch of the International Hindi Olympiad and scholarships for meritorious students from economically weaker sections and Defense Services Families. The event also honored 66 international rank-1 winners with cash prizes, medals, and certificates, alongside recognizing outstanding principals and teachers.
