Air India Express increases flights from Agartala to boost regional connectivity

Air India Express has announced a significant increase in its flight operations from Agartala as part of its winter schedule. The airline, which introduced Agartala as a new destination in September 2024, has raised its weekly flights from 14 to 21, including enhanced frequency on the Agartala-Kolkata route. This expansion is part of the airline’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the Northeast region, with Agartala becoming its third destination in the region after Guwahati and Imphal.

Dr. Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India Express, emphasized that the increased flights would support the economic growth, trade, and tourism in the region. “With daily flights connecting Agartala to Guwahati, Delhi, and Kolkata, and convenient one-stop connections to other major cities, we aim to provide enhanced connectivity,” said Dr. Garg.

The airline’s expanded network now includes 21 weekly flights from Agartala, connecting directly to Guwahati and Kolkata, with one-stop options to 11 other destinations. Agartala’s market, which has seen increasing demand for domestic travel, is expected to benefit significantly from these additional connections, improving access to major urban centers across India. This winter, Air India Express will operate more than 400 daily flights, marking a 30% increase over last year, and continue to expand its domestic and international routes.
