All about Netflix’s ‘Pitta Kathalu’: Dark, bold and unhinged

The trailer of Pitta Kathalu, Netflix’s four-part Telugu anthology drama, was released on Friday. All four short films are women-centric, and they revolve around the challenges women face while navigating complications of relationships.

Lust, innocence, power dynamics and rearview mirror wisdom on life, Pitta Kathalu seems to have tackled love and human relationships from various perspectives. This anthology film is a result of the coming together of four refreshing and dynamic Telugu filmmakers: Tharun Bhascker, B.V. Nandini Reddy, Nag Ashwin and Sankalp Reddy.

The lead cast includes Amala Paul, Ashwin Kakumanu, Eesha Rebba, Jagapathi Babu, Lakshmi Manchu, Saanvi Megghana, Sanjith Hegde and Shruti Haasan among others.

It has been produced by RSVP Movies and Flying Unicorn Entertainment.

Pitta Kathalu, which is the maiden anthology from Telugu industry, is believed to be an adaptation of Netflix’s own Lust Stories.

Lust Stories featured Kiara Advani, Radhika Apte, and Manisha Koirala. The anthology film – featuring four short film segments and centered on the theme of lust – was directed by Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee, respectively.
