Almonds may help in lowering total and LDL cholesterol when included in the diet.
A similar study led by Dr. Seema Gulati, PhD also demonstrated that eating almonds as part of a healthy diet leads to better health in Indians with Type 2 diabetes. A recent research by Harvard University, funded by the US National Institutes of Health, shows that eating tree nuts, such as almonds, may help in minimising the risk of cardiovascular disease for adults with type-2 diabetes. The Harvard study also highlighted that the beneficial effects of almonds can be at least partially explained by their unique nutritional composition. Overall, this helps in speeding metabolism in people with type-2 diabetes which helps in burning calories faster.
