Amazon has expanded its ultra-fast delivery service, Amazon Now, to 19 locations across West Bengal as part of a nationwide rollout covering more than 120 cities, doubling its footprint in just two weeks.
The expansion includes Kolkata, Asansol, Durgapur, Murshidabad, Krishnanagar, Basirhat, Katwa, Chittaranjan, Habra, Bangaon, Domkal, Ranaghat, Jangipur, Bolpur, Kharagpur, Rampurhat, Burdwan, Midnapore and Nadia.
The service offers tens of thousands of daily essentials, including groceries, fruits and vegetables, frozen food, personal care products, fashion, beauty items, small appliances and home and kitchen products. Orders are fulfilled through nearly 800 micro-fulfilment and urban fulfilmentcentres across the country.
“We are delighted to take ultra-fast deliveries with Amazon Now to India’s hinterland,” said Harsh Goyal, Vice-President, Everyday Essentials, Amazon India, adding that orders through the service were doubling every quarter.
In September, Amazon announced that Amazon Now had achieved $1 billion in annualised gross sales in India over the preceding three-month period. The company aims to expand the service to more than 300 cities.
The expansion comes ahead of the Amazon Great Indian Festival, beginning October 8. Customers will be able to access festive deals across product categories, along with a 10 per cent instant discount on SBI credit and debit cards and eligible EMI transactions. Prime members will receive additional savings of up to 10 per cent.
Customers can check availability by looking for the ‘Now’ banner on the Amazon shopping app.
