Amazon India strengthens its infrastructure footprint in WB

Amazon India announced the expansion of its fulfilment and delivery network in Kolkata, West Bengal. With this expansion of two existing fulfilment centres, launch of a new sort centre and a delivery station, Amazon India will now have 4 fulfilment centres, 4 Sortation Centres and close to 25 delivery stations including those operated by partners. This infrastructural expansion will support more than 32,000 sellers in the State to reach a larger customer base in West Bengal and North East, while offering a wider selection of products and faster deliveries.

The newly added Delivery Station in Kolkata will enable seamless and faster deliveries in the city. With the expansion of the delivery network, Amazon will have direct delivery presence in more than 1000 pin codes in West Bengal.

The continued investment in the State will have a multiplier effect on the local economy and lead to creation of new direct and indirect work opportunities. Individuals from all backgrounds will find a variety of roles in the Operations network, including full time and part time opportunities. The expansion in West Bengal is a part of Amazon India’s plans to increase its fulfilment network and storage capacity by close to 40% across the country in 2021.
