A historic agreement was signed between the Indian Army and the Tawang District Administration, giving the Army control of the Major Ralengnao ‘Bob’ Khathing Museum of Valour. At a ceremony that included senior officials and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed. The agreement, which gives the Indian Army control over the museum close to the Tawang War Memorial, was signed by Brigadier VS Rajput, Commander of the 190 Mountain Brigade, and Deputy Commissioner of Tawang Kanki Darang. Major Khathing’s crucial contribution to Tawang’s 1951 integration into India is honored at the museum.
Major Khathing’s historic mission, in which he successfully seized Tawang from Tibetan rule, was emphasized by Brigadier Rajput as a pivotal point in preserving India’s territorial integrity. In addition to thanking Major Khathing and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for their services to nation-building, Chief Minister Khandu praised the Indian Army for their collaboration in maintaining the museum. He emphasized how crucial it is to respect the history of those who defended national unity. Dr. Moji Riba, the creative consultant, provided insights into the museum’s mission, which is to inform visitors about the history of the area and the valiant legacy of Major Khathing. The hero’s contribution to Tawang’s 1951 accession to India is honored at the museum.
