‘Anveshana’ session in Howrah spotlights advanced neuro, blood and cardiac care

Manipal Hospitals Group on Tuesday highlighted recent advances in neurosurgery, haematology and cardiac care during an awareness session held in Howrah under its flagship initiative, ‘Anveshana – Medical Education for Media’. The programme was organised by Manipal Hospital EM Bypass amid a growing burden of neurological, blood-related and cardiac diseases across Eastern India.

Addressing the session, Dr L N Tripathy, Director of the Manipal Institute of Neurological Diseases, spoke on the rising incidence of brain tumours, stroke-related complications, spinal disorders and traumatic brain injuries, stressing the role of early diagnosis and minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques. DrRajib De highlighted advances in clinical haematology and bone marrow transplant care for conditions such as anaemia, thalassaemia and blood cancers, while DrAbhishek Roy discussed modern interventional cardiology procedures, including complex angioplasties and catheter-based heart interventions.

In Howrah, doctors noted a steady rise in patients from the industrial and densely populated belt seeking specialised care for lifestyle-linked ailments. Improved road and rail connectivity to Kolkata’s EM Bypass has made advanced treatment more accessible to Howrah residents, reducing delays and the need for long-distance travel.

The session concluded with discussions on symptom awareness, preventive care and the launch of a Media Privilege Card to strengthen healthcare communication.
