A notification regarding applications for the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for drones and drone components has been issued by the Civil Aviation Ministry.
Under this scheme, for a manufacturer of drones and drone components, incentive will be 20% of the “value addition” that is made by the company during the next 3 years.
In the notification it is stated that all those who are eligible are advised to submit the application form at the Civil Aviation Ministry’s website. The deadline for submitting these applications is 11:59 pm on 31st March. More than one company within a group of companies can file separate applications under this PLI scheme and the same will be evaluated independently. This PLI scheme was notified in the September last year.
Value addition by a manufacturer is calculated as annual sales revenue from drones and drone components minus the purchase cost of drone and drone components.
According to the General Dr VK Singh said that, “These rules cover various aspects like registration and operation of drones, type certification, research, airspace restrictions, training and licensing, offences and penalties, development and testing of drones, etc.”
Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that a total turnover of Rs 15,000 crore by 2026 by the Indian drone industry will have as the government has given a major boost to the sector with the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.
