Apraava Energy’s AI-ML platform gains policy spotlight, signals growing market momentum in smart power distribution

Apraava Energy has strengthened its position in India’s fast-evolving power distribution market after its Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)–driven solution received national recognition from the Ministry of Power.

The recognition was announced at the National Conference on the Use of AI and ML in the Power Distribution Sector, organised under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The two-day event showcased nearly 200 solutions presented by DISCOMs, Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Providers (AMISPs), technology solution providers and home automation firms, reflecting growing competition and innovation in the sector. Apraava Energy emerged as runner-up in the AMISP category, with the award presented by Union Minister for Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar.

Apraava showcased its Discom GPT (Grid.) platform, developed with WorkOnGrid, which combines generative AI, advanced machine learning and a strong data architecture. The solution enables consumer segmentation, behavioural demand response, transformer fault prediction through anomaly detection, accurate demand forecasting and automation of operational workflows.

Apraava’s end-to-end Advanced Metering Infrastructure capabilities position it well to benefit from RDSS-led investments. With smart metering projects spread across several states and a target of installing around 7.8 million smart meters, the company is poised to play a significant role in India’s push toward data-driven, efficient and consumer-focused power distribution.
