Arunachal Cabinet Meeting Ends with Key Approvals

The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, has approved several pivotal decisions aimed at enhancing various sectors including education, financial management, health administration, employee welfare, and climate action. Five significant resolutions concerning the education sector were made, which include: the regulation of teacher transfers through legislative measures; the granting of professorships to college educators under the Career Advancement Scheme per UGC Regulations 2018; amendments to the recruitment rules for government college principals; establishing rules for Physical Education Teachers; and a revision of the state’s seat reservation policy for diploma and allied programs.

A major legislative initiative, the Arunachal Pradesh Transfer and Posting of Employees of Education Department (Regulation & Management) Bill, 2026, was also endorsed. This bill aims to transition from the current policy-based transfer system to a statutory framework that is transparent and technologically advanced, utilizing an automated Teachers’ Registry Portal. Additionally, new recruitment regulations for physical education teachers were implemented to ensure systematic and transparent hiring processes in government schools.

In the realm of higher education, the Cabinet’s approval of professorship for government college teachers is poised to enhance research quality and academic excellence. The recruitment rules for government college principals were revised to comply with the latest UGC guidelines. Lastly, an amendment of the existing reservation policy for diploma, PCM, PCB, and related programs was sanctioned.

Furthermore, the Cabinet rolled out the Pakke Declaration Implementation Report-2025, which evaluates the progress of the Pakke Tiger Reserve 2047 Declaration regarding climate-resilient development, initially established in November 2021. The report indicates substantial progress, with 246 out of 410 action lines under 75 climate-resilient strategies across 23 departments completed, 70 ongoing, and 94 still at the initiation stage.
