Arunachal CM encourages Tawang’s power infrastructure to be strengthened

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu met with PowerGrid representatives to discuss the progress of the Tawang district’s implementation of the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening of Transmission, Sub-Transmission, and Distribution System. “The Tawang district’s ongoing power outages, particularly during the severe winter months, must be addressed by these transmission projects. In his X post, CM Khandu said, “We are dedicated to accelerating these projects for the benefit of our people, and ensuring a reliable power supply remains a top priority.”

In a meeting held at his Civil Secretariat office last November, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister-in-charge of Power Chowna Mein reviewed the status of the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening of Transmission and Distribution System in Arunachal Pradesh (CSST&DS-AP). The goal of the meeting was to expedite the transmission and distribution system’s implementation while addressing important concerns, including as compensation and disbursement for the transmission lines that run from Tawang to Longding. Within the timeframes for each transmission line that were established during the discussion, the Deputy Chief Minister asked the relevant officials to guarantee project completion by March 2025, with a focus on expediting progress.
