Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has commended the 2/9 Gorkha Rifles for their ‘exemplary service’ and contributions toward humanitarian outreach and border infrastructure during their 33-month tenure in the high-altitude Mago-Chuna sector of Tawang district, bordering China.
In an official Commendation Certificate as the battalion prepares to move to its next assignment, Khandu expressed gratitude to all ranks of the unit, noting that their efforts strengthened both national security and civil-military ties along the frontier.
“For over 33 months, the Battalion stood as a symbol of courage and commitment, transforming lives through humanitarian outreach, medical camps, community development, promotion of border tourism, environmental initiatives, and strong civil-military cooperation,” Khandu said in a message appreciating the troop deployment that endured three severe winters.
“Their service has strengthened both our national security and the bond between the Army and the people of Arunachal Pradesh,” he said.
“My heartfelt appreciation to every officer, JCO, and jawan of the Battalion. Arunachal Pradesh will always remember your service with pride,” Khandu added.
