Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Sunday emphasised the importance of protecting indigenous heritage, saying that preserving local cultures is essential to protecting age-old knowledge systems and values.
In a message on the occasion of International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, Mein highlighted the state’s vibrant tribal identity.
He said indigenous cultures are an integral part of the state’s ethos.
“On International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we celebrate the diverse indigenous communities whose traditions, languages, knowledge systems and relationship with nature enrich our shared heritage,” Mein said.
He said that in Arunachal Pradesh, indigenous cultures are an integral part of the people, and preserving them means protecting not only local traditions, but also the knowledge and values passed down through generations.
He urged the people of the state to honour their roots, respect diversity and ensure that the rich heritage continues to thrive.
