Arunachal Governor opens Education Conclave 2024

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) inaugurated the three-day ‘Chintan Shivir cum Education Conclave 2024’ at the DK Convention Center in Itanagar today, emphasizing education as a powerful tool for social transformation. Themed ‘Shikshit Arunachal – Viksit Arunachal’, the conclave aims to enhance the educational framework in the state. In his inaugural address, Governor Parnaik urged all stakeholders to focus on developing the physical, mental, and moral foundations of students, molding them into ‘Shiksit, Anushasit, Prerit aur Viksit’ (Educated, Disciplined, Inspired, and Advanced) individuals. He expressed that such efforts would support the transformation of ‘Shikshit Arunachal’ into ‘Viksit Arunachal’  “Formal education is crucial for gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to become better individuals and contribute to a better society,” Governor Parnaik stated. He highlighted that education fosters personal, professional, and social growth, sparking curiosity, leadership, and a desire to positively impact others.

The Governor underscored that education is the most effective means for social change, and stressed the pivotal role of universities, colleges, and schools in this process. He emphasized the importance of the ‘Guru-Shishya Parampara’ (Teacher-Student Tradition), urging educators to inspire and guide their students through innovative and impactful training programs. Parnaik also advocated for the full implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which promotes a holistic and engaging curriculum that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. He suggested that the curriculum should reflect NEP 2020 principles while incorporating Arunachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage. The Governor discussed several key initiatives, including the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN Bharat) and Prime Minister Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI Schools). He urged educational institutions to adopt best practices and innovative approaches to set new benchmarks for excellence.

He commended the State Education Minister and officials for organizing the conclave and expressed hope that it would be a foundational step towards improving the educational landscape in Arunachal Pradesh. Governor Parnaik called on participants to engage actively in discussions to enhance the state’s educational system. The inaugural session was also addressed by State Education Minister P. D. Sona, MLA and Advisor to the Education Minister Shri Mutchu Mithi, Commissioner Education Amjad Tak, and Secretary Education Duly Kanduk. The event was attended by State Minister Ojing Tasing, MLAs, Deputy Commissioners, Deputy Directors of School Education, principals, headmasters, and representatives from various NGOs and educational organizations.
