Arunachal Pradesh Minister for Education and Tourism, P.D Sona, was on Monday elected unopposed as the president of the Arunachal Taekwondo Association (ATA) during its 43rd Annual General Body Meeting-cum-Election of the executive committee for the term 2026–2030.
The election was conducted in the presence of the Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer, legal experts, and observers from the Sports Association of Arunachal Pradesh, along with representatives of other affiliated state organisations. Director of Sports Tadar Aapa and Director of Arunachal State Sports (ASS) Guia Karbak, along with other senior officials were present during the election and appointment ceremony.
After completion of the election process, letters of appointment were formally distributed by the competent authority. Speaking to the media, the newly elected ATA president expressed happiness at being part of the organisation and assured his full commitment to its growth. Sona thanked the outgoing team led by Kipa Kaha and said that a new executive committee has been constituted with renewed enthusiasm.
“We are hopeful and will put in our best efforts to ensure that games and sports, particularly Taekwondo, reach new heights in Arunachal Pradesh,” Sona said. He further assured that the association would work with dedication and commitment for the promotion of sports across the state. He added that the new team would sit together to explore further initiatives for strengthening and promoting Taekwondo in Arunachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, ATA General Secretary Likha Robin informed that the entire election process was conducted smoothly and peacefully. He stated that the newly formed executive committee is united and working with team spirit to promote Taekwondo and expressed confidence that the sport will achieve greater heights under the leadership of President P D Sona.
