Arunachal Pradesh cabinet authorizes SGST relief for two hydroelectric projects

Two hydroelectric projects were granted SGST reimbursement discounts by the Arunachal Pradesh government in order to improve their financial sustainability. According to a statement released on Thursday, the 700-mw Tato II Hydroelectric Project on the Siyom River in the Shi Yomi district and the 1,720-mw Kamala HEP on the Kamala River in the Kamle district were granted State GST (SGST) relief by the state cabinet, which was chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, during its first meeting of the year on Wednesday. These projects, which require a total investment of approximately Rs. 35,000 crore, are anticipated to generate nearly Rs. 470 crore in free power and Rs. 79 crore through the local area development fund annually for the state after they are put into service. The state government would own a 26 percent equity share in the joint venture.

Along with providing long-term socioeconomic growth, the two projects would benefit local communities by improving infrastructure, such as roads, healthcare, and educational facilities, and creating a large number of jobs and opportunities for self-employment through ancillary services and infrastructure development. Under the Aspirational District Program, the cabinet chose to suggest to the Center the establishment of a 420-bed hospital and a 100-seat medical college in Namsai. In order to improve the Government Engineering College’s academic and administrative capabilities and give students access to cutting-edge learning and skill-building opportunities, the cabinet also approved up to 32 teaching and non-teaching positions in Tezu, Lohit district.
