Arunachal Pradesh recorded a revenue surplus equivalent to 12.1 per cent of its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in 2024-25, the highest among states and Union Territories with comparable data, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Chowna Mein said on Tuesday. Citing data from the Reserve Bank of India’s Handbook of Statistics on Indian States and the Business Standard Fiscal Health Tracker, Mein said the achievement reflected the state government’s focus on fiscal discipline, sound financial management and sustainable economic growth. He said the strong surplus indicated a healthier financial base while the government continued to implement development and welfare programmes. The 12.1 per cent surplus ratio places Arunachal Pradesh at the top among comparable states and UTs, highlighting the state’s improved fiscal position and its efforts to maintain financial stability alongside its development priorities.
