The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Arunachal Pradesh achieved a significant victory in the recent elections held on December 15, securing a majority of seats in the Zilla Parishads and Gram Panchayats. The party claimed 170 out of 245 Zilla Parishad seats, including 59 uncontested, thereby demonstrating its dominance in district-level local bodies. In the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) elections, the BJP won 14 of 20 wards.
