As the Agartala-Guwahati railway line reopens, Tripura’s fuel supply is restored

Officials from the State Transport Department stated that a railway fuel wagon reached the state on Sunday night after the Agartala-Guwahati railway line was restored, which was a huge relief for the people of Tripura. Many landslides had disrupted rail connectivity in the Lumding-Badarpur hill segment, especially between Jatinga Lumpur and New Haflong, for weeks before to the fuel consignment’s arrival. The area had become impassable due to constant, intense rain, raising worries about fuel and other necessary supplies.

Sushanta Chowdhury, the minister of transportation, had earlier informed the public that food grain supplies were adequate to cover the state’s requirements, even though there was a brief fuel shortfall. With more goods trains transporting food grains on their way and fuel arriving in the state, authorities have now formally proclaimed Tripura to be “free from any kind of shortage.” After restoring the crucial rail segment, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) declared that limited train services will resume on June 29 and that full-scale operations would start on Monday.

Returning to logistical normalcy, the line’s first empty goods train left New Harangajao at 10:21 am, marking the line’s reopening. After weeks of disruption, officials said they were confident that the return of rail services would guarantee a constant flow of necessities, calming public anxiety and strengthening supply chains.
