ASCI launches ‘Commitment Seal’ to boost transparency and consumer trust in advertising

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has introduced its new ASCI Commitment Seal, offering member organisations a visible way to show their pledge toward honest, transparent and fair advertising. Launched in Mumbai on November 17, 2025, the seal can now be displayed on websites, digital platforms, collaterals and even advertising campaigns to signal a brand’s accountability to consumers.

ASCI said the seal aims to strengthen consumer trust by reinforcing the idea that advertisers are voluntarily embracing self-regulation. The visual emblem has been designed to encourage higher responsibility across the industry, especially at a time when digital advertising is expanding rapidly. While the seal represents a member’s commitment to responsible practices, ASCI clarified that it does not endorse any specific advertisement or campaign, but indicates the advertiser’s willingness to address complaints through ASCI’s independent grievance mechanism.

ASCI CEO and Secretary General Manisha Kapoor said the seal builds “a meaningful trust-bridge” at a time when misleading ads and misinformation are rising. She added that the symbol will help consumers feel confident that brands are open to scrutiny and fair resolution. In Kolkata, advertising agencies and consumer groups welcomed the move, saying the seal could help improve accountability in a region where digital advertising has grown sharply and concerns over misleading claims are increasing. ASCI said it will continue to expand participation and spread awareness about responsible advertising nationwide.
