ASER recognizes the enhancements made to Arunachal Pradesh’s educational institutions

Arunachal Pradesh’s educational facilities have improved, according to the 14th nationwide field-based study, the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2024. However, when it comes to fundamental literacy and numeracy (FLN) activities and usable school infrastructure, the state still lags behind the national average. In comparison to the national trend, Arunachal Pradesh’s schools report lower levels of inputs and activities aimed at boosting FLN for early grades, despite improvements in areas like midday meals, electricity, and libraries.

The poll found that rural schools in the state received less funding, instruction, training, and supplies for FLN upgrading at the primary level. The ASER-2024 survey found that more children between the ages of three and four are now enrolled in early childhood education programs. At 21.3% of pupils in 2024, the proportion of children in Standard I who are “underage” (younger than six years old) has declined. 97.2 percent of kids between the ages of 6 and 14 are enrolled in school overall.

The percentage of 15–16-year-olds who are not in school has also decreased, falling below 10% for both males and girls. Additionally, with over 97% of children in the 14–16 age range having access to smartphones, Arunachal Pradesh did better than the national average in terms of digital literacy. The report emphasizes the need for more robust efforts to improve basic learning in the state’s schools, notwithstanding these encouraging improvements.
