Assam advise not to travel Meghalaya amidst border disputes

On Friday, Assam advised its people not to travel to Meghalaya as the situation between the states is not good due to recent firing incidents between Meghalaya and Assam.

According to the report, the apex petroleum workers’ organization has also stopped the transportation of fuel from Assam to the hill state from Thursday.

The situation at the clash site in West Karbi Anglong district continued to be tense but security forces remained under control to ensure that there was no further arson.

Guwahati Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Sudhakar Singh said non-Assamese are traveling in Meghalaya, but they are being asked to travel in vehicles that do not have Assam registration number plates.

Cachar Superintendent of Police Nomal Mahatta also said that a similar ban on entry into Meghalaya from Assam is in force through his district.
