Assam Chief Minister speaks on arrested numbers against child marriage

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma speaks on the allegation of communal target made by the opposition party against child marriage crackdown in Assam.

The Chief Minister informed that equal number of Hindus and Muslim were arrested in the state during the child marriage crackdown.

He said it was done even though child marriages are “more prevalent in Muslim-majority areas”, and put the ratio of Muslims to Hindus among those arrested at 55:45.

Although,  highest number of child marriages were found in Dhubri and South Salmara districts – where Muslims are in majority, the CM added too.
