Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed Chhattisgarh poll campaign which was held on October 18. Sarma’s remark on Muslim minister Mohammad Akbar during the campaign speech has taken another turn.
According to the sources, during his speech in Kawardha in Chhattisgarh, Sarma had taken a controversial dig at Akbar saying that “If one Akbar comes to some place, he calls 100 Akbars. So, send him off as soon as possible, otherwise the land of Mata Kaushalya will get defiled.”
Due to Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma‘s remark on Akbar, the Congress has filed a complaint to the Election Commission of India (EC). In response to the party, the EC has asked Sarma to respond to the notice by 5 pm on October 30.
However, Sarma has defended himself on the accusations made by the Congress on the ‘Akbar’ remarks claiming that the Congress had concealed vital information regarding Mohammad Akbar as their candidate from Kawardha, asserting that criticizing a candidate is not equivalent to promoting communal politics.
