Assam floods: People of Rangia cast nets on National Highway to catch fish

Incessant rains over the past few days in Assam have cause extreme floods in many places, inflicting floods that disrupted railway and avenue traffic.

In a bizarre incident, Residents of Rangia laid nets on a flooded national highway to capture fish.

Floods and resultant landslides in Assam have claimed sixty two lives this year so far. In the final 24 hours, eight people have died after drowning in flood waters – two each in Barpeta and Karimganj districts, one every in Darrang, Hailakandi, Nalbari and Sonitpur districts and eight people are nonetheless missing. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), out of sixty two people, fifty one humans died in floods while 11 have been in landslides so far. Nearly 31 lakh people of 32 districts .
