In a recent Cabinet meeting, the Assam Government has approved an amendment to re-designate two new posts for tourism services in Assam.
According to the amendment, the post of ‘Tourist Information Officer’ will be renamed as ‘Tourism Development Officer’ and the post of ‘Assistant Tourist Information Officer’ will be changed to ‘Assistant Tourism Development Officer.’
Additionally, Tourism Development Officer will reflect the wider scope of duties beyond providing information. On the other hand, Assistant Tourism Development Officer will acknowledge the dynamic nature of the job, involving active participation in the growth of the tourism sector.
