Assam govt decides to forego fines for minor offences in traffic rules

Assam Government has come up with new protocol to ease financial burden of the common people. The government has decided not to fine for minor traffic offence commited by drivers of two and three wheeler in Assam.

Assam CM through X said, “While we follow a zero-tolerance policy against violations of the law, we understand that there are some offences that might be inadvertent, at times. In keeping with this, and posing our faith in citizens, we have decided to forego fines for minor offences by drivers of two- and three-wheelers.”

He also added, “Complaints are made in our various media outlets that our transport and traffic cops harass small auto-rickshaw drivers for fines, thus making poor people suffer.”

More to know, for two-wheelers with no paper work and minor offences fine will not be imposed except fine for not wearing helmet. On the other hand, three-wheeler drivers will be imposed fine if they commit offences for more than four times.
