Assam Police to impliment new rules for ‘Love Jihad’ crimes

On Friday, during an event with Assam Police across the state along with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was organized in Bongaigaon where CM asked Assam Police to formulate rules for investigation against ‘Love Jihad’ in the state, Assam.

“Love jihad” is a Hindutva idea that Muslim men lure Hindu women into romantic relationships in order to convert them to Islam through marriage. The Union home ministry has told parliament that “love Jihad” is not defined under Indian laws.

Additionally, Sarma claimed that the major reason behind forceful religious conversions was “love jihad”.
