Assam to abolish 8000 vacant posts of teachers

A large number of contractual faculty members are already working through Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). So Assam government will vacate 8000 posts of teachers till contract teachers retire.

According to sources, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said the state government has offered tenure to 11,206 contractual teachers from the age of 60 in 2020.

In a post, he said, “To maintain rationality against this near regularization, the Govt. has decided to keep 8000 sanctioned posts of regular teachers vacant to avoid duplication and financial neutrality.”

It also added that the state government can create posts as and when required due to increase in enrollment in future.
