At Assam government schools, teachers can only wear school provided attire

Teacher’s casuals wear seems to be unacceptable in some situation. Therefore, Assam’s higher educational institutes have been asked to avoid casual wear such as T-shirts, jeans, and leggings during their duties.

According to the sources, the notification was issued by the State Government on August 14, 2023 as such attire does not appear to be fit while discharging their duties.

The notification issued by State’s Higher Education Department said, “Some teachers of higher educational institutes are found in the habit of wearing the dress of their choice which sometimes does not appear to be acceptable by the public at large.”

The male teachers to attend duties wearing appropriate formal shirt and trousers, or dhoti-pyjama. Similarly, the female teachers advised to appear in decent salwar suit/saree/mekhela-chador, and other traditional attires during duties at schools.
